The Peplink Balance 310 5G is an enterprise branch router that puts a built-in 5G modem, a 10G multi-gig WAN port, eight 2.5G PoE+ LAN ports, and WiFi 7 in one fanless metal chassis. It serves two roles: automatic 5G failover for an existing fiber or cable ISP, or a standalone primary 5G connection for new branches and sites still waiting on wired service. Inside, a Qualcomm X65-based modem is rated up to 4.1 Gbps theoretical on 5G Sub-6 with LTE CAT 20 fallback, backed by dual Nano-SIM slots and certification on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Pair it with an ISPTek cellular SIM card data plan and one box delivers routing, PoE switching, WiFi, and an always-ready cellular WAN for the whole site.
What It Does & Key Features:
- Automatic 5G Failover Behind Your Wired ISP: Connect fiber or cable to the 10G WAN port and the built-in 5G modem stands by as a second WAN. When the wired ISP drops, Peplink’s multi-WAN failover moves traffic to 5G and back on recovery; where wired service isn’t installed yet, the router runs on 5G as the primary connection.
- 5G Sub-6 with 4×4 MIMO: A single embedded 5G modem runs in SA and NSA modes at theoretical maximums of 4.1 Gbps down and 900 Mbps up, with LTE CAT 20 fallback at up to 2 Gbps / 211 Mbps. Four SMA cellular ports and four included antennas support 4×4 MIMO downlink on the main mid-band 5G and LTE bands.
- Dual Nano-SIM Slots for Cellular Redundancy: Two 4FF Nano-SIM slots share the single modem: one SIM is active at a time, and the second takes over if it can’t connect, adding cellular redundancy on top of wired-to-5G failover.
- 10G WAN, 10G SFP+ & USB-C WAN Expansion: A 10G multi-gig RJ45 WAN port takes the wired ISP, a 10G SFP+ port can be set as WAN or LAN, and two USB-C WAN ports accept USB cellular modems such as Peplink’s optional 5G Dongle. Fixed wireless and Starlink are supported WAN sources too.
- Eight 2.5G PoE+ LAN Ports: Eight 2.5G multi-gig RJ45 LAN ports each provide 802.3at PoE+ from a 240W total budget, powering access points and IP cameras straight from the router on the included 54V power supply.
- Integrated WiFi 7 Dual-Band Radio: Simultaneous dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi 7 with 2×2 MIMO and up to 16 SSIDs serves staff and guest networks, and the radio can also join an existing WiFi network as a WAN source.
- Enterprise SD-WAN, Security & Cloud Management: 4 Gbps router throughput, 1 Gbps SpeedFusion VPN with 256-bit AES, BGP and OSPF, High Availability, Drop-In mode, 20 VLANs, web content filtering, Docker edge computing, and FIPS 140-3 validation, all managed through InControl 2.
- Fanless Metal Chassis with Redundant Power: The indoor metal enclosure runs fanless from -40°F to 149°F (-40°C to 65°C). Two 54V DC inputs plus a 12–54V DC terminal block support redundant power sources, and Peplink rates the terminal block for mobile and vehicular deployment.
Certified on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile & All Major U.S. Carrier Networks:
The Peplink Balance 310 5G (BPL-310-5GK-T-PRM) is certified on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile and works with ISPTek’s cellular SIM card data plans on all three.
- Verizon Certified: Certified through Verizon’s Open Development program, covering n77 C-Band 5G plus n2, n5, and n66, with LTE Bands 13 and 66 — the core of Verizon’s nationwide network.
- AT&T Certified: Approved for AT&T’s network, pairing n77 mid-band and n5 850 MHz 5G with LTE Bands 2, 12, 14, 17, 29, 30, and 66.
- T-Mobile Certified: Rated 3 out of 3 on T-Mobile’s IoT device certification, with 5G SA and NSA support, including n41 2.5 GHz mid-band for capacity and n71 600 MHz low-band for rural reach, plus n25 and LTE Band 71.
- LTE CAT 20 Fallback: LTE across B2, B4, B5, B12, B13, B14, B25, B26, B30, B48, B66, B71, and more keeps the cellular link up at up to 2 Gbps theoretical where 5G isn’t available, so the backup link doesn’t depend on 5G coverage.
Enhanced with ISPTek’s Cellular SIM Card Data Plans:
- Public Static IP Addresses: Standard cellular SIMs typically sit behind carrier-grade NAT. A public static IP gives the 5G WAN a fixed, reachable address, so site-to-site VPNs and remote management keep working during a wired outage.
- Data Pooling Across Devices: Backup SIMs sit idle, then spike during an outage. On ISPTek’s pooled plans, Balance 310 5G routers on the same plan category share one allowance across sites, so one branch’s outage draws on data the quiet branches never used.
- Over 12 Custom Plans: Size each SIM to the site’s role — low-cost standby plans for wired-ISP failover, or higher-capacity and unlimited plans where 5G is the primary connection for a busy branch.
- No Activation or Cancellation Fees: Add SIMs when new branches go live and remove them when temporary sites close — month-to-month billing with no setup costs or termination penalties.
- Zero Touch Advanced Security: Network-level security covers every ISPTek SIM from its first connection, so branch traffic stays protected whenever the router shifts from the wired ISP to 5G.
Who Benefits?
- MSPs Managing Branch Networks: One router covers routing, PoE+ switching, WiFi 7, and 5G failover at each client site, managed centrally in InControl 2, and ISPTek’s pooled plans put every client SIM on one billing account.
- Hotels, Venues & Hospitality: Recommended for 50 to 500 users, it runs up to 16 SSIDs with a captive portal for guest WiFi, powers access points over PoE+, and keeps the PMS and card terminals online through ISP outages.
- Multi-Location Retail & Restaurants: POS terminals, card processing, online ordering, and guest WiFi stay up when the wired ISP drops, while PoE+ ports power each store’s access points and cameras. Pooled ISPTek plans keep backup data costs in check across locations.
- Financial Services & Healthcare: Branches and clinics need WAN redundancy for EMR access, card processing, and secure VPNs. FIPS 140-3 validation, TAA compliance, and 1 Gbps encrypted SpeedFusion VPN suit regulated networks.
- Construction Sites & New Locations: Run the router on 5G as the primary connection at a job-site office or new branch while the wired circuit is on order, then plug the wired ISP into the 10G WAN port and keep 5G as automatic backup — same hardware, no redeployment.
- Fleet & Mobile Operations: Peplink designs it for fixed, mobile, and industrial deployment, with a 12–54V DC terminal block for vehicles and built-in GPS for InControl 2 fleet tracking. Vehicles on the same ISPTek plan category share one pooled data allowance.
- AV Integrators & IT Firms: Integrators deploying signage, CCTV, and client networks can standardize one router that powers cameras and access points over PoE+ and backs each site with 5G, with ISPTek as the single data plan billing partner.
The Peplink Balance 310 5G puts the whole branch network in one box for sites that can’t afford downtime. It keeps 5G on standby behind the wired ISP for automatic failover, or runs as the standalone primary connection where wired service isn’t installed yet, backed by certification on all three major U.S. carriers, with dual Nano-SIM slots and dual power inputs removing other single points of failure. Activated with ISPTek’s cellular SIM card data plans, every unit can add a public static IP, draw on pooled-data plan options, and run on a month-to-month plan matched to its role: primary, backup, or both.
