The Peplink MAX BR2 is a rugged dual-cellular router that puts two independent LTE connections in one compact, fanless metal enclosure. Two embedded CAT-7 modems run at the same time, each rated up to a theoretical 300 Mbps down, with a primary and a backup Nano-SIM slot per modem. The BR2 serves two roles: automatic cellular backup for an existing wired ISP plugged into its dedicated Gigabit WAN port, or a standalone dual-carrier primary connection for kiosks, remote sites, and vehicles. With certification on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile, plus Wi-Fi 5, PoE input, and ignition sensing, it is built for deployments where a single carrier isn’t enough. Pair each modem with an ISPTek cellular SIM card data plan and every site gets two independent cellular paths ready to carry traffic.
What It Does & Key Features:
- Two Concurrent CAT-7 LTE Modems: Both embedded modems stay online together, each rated up to 300 Mbps down and 150 Mbps up theoretical. Four SMA cellular connectors give each modem 2×2 MIMO, and running each modem on a different network keeps the site connected through a single carrier’s outage.
- Automatic Failover Behind Your Wired ISP: Plug a cable, fiber, or DSL modem into the dedicated Gigabit WAN port — or Starlink, using its Ethernet adapter. WAN Link Health Check spots a failed link and Priority or Overflow policies shift traffic to cellular, then back once the wired line recovers. Where wired service isn’t installed yet, both modems run as the primary connection.
- Four Nano-SIM Slots, Primary & Backup per Modem: Each modem has its own pair of 4FF Nano-SIM slots, a primary and a redundant backup. Two SIMs carry traffic at once, one per modem, while the other two stand by.
- Multi-WAN Load Balancing: Eight outbound policy algorithms, such as Overflow and Lowest Latency, spread traffic across cellular, Ethernet, USB, and Wi-Fi WAN. With PrimeCare, complimentary for the first year, SpeedFusion tunnels to a Peplink router or FusionHub add Hot Failover, Bandwidth Bonding, and Smoothing across both cellular links.
- Five Gigabit Ports with PoE Input: One Gigabit WAN port and four Gigabit LAN ports, one of which accepts 802.3at PoE input for single-cable installs. A USB port adds another WAN option.
- Dual-Band Wi-Fi 5: Simultaneous 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5 with 2×2 MIMO runs as an access point for on-site devices, as a Wi-Fi WAN, or both. Peplink recommends the BR2 for 1 to 60 users, with 300 Mbps router throughput.
- Rugged, Vehicle-Ready Hardware: A ruggedized metal enclosure operates from -40°F to 149°F (-40°C to 65°C). A terminal block takes 12–30V DC vehicle power, ignition sensing protects vehicle batteries, and DIN rail mount holes accept an optional DIN rail kit for cabinets.
- GPS, Cloud Management & Security: Integrated GPS feeds location tracking and fleet management in InControl 2, included with a 1-year PrimeCare subscription. A stateful firewall, IPsec VPN, VLANs, QoS, captive portal, and SNMP v1/v2c/v3 are built in.
Certified on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile & All Major U.S. Carrier Networks:
The Peplink MAX BR2 is certified on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile — the three largest U.S. networks — and works with ISPTek’s cellular SIM card data plans on all three. With two modems, a single BR2 can run on two of those networks at once.
- Verizon Certified: Certified through Verizon’s Open Development program, with LTE Band 13, the 700 MHz foundation of Verizon’s nationwide LTE coverage, plus Bands 2, 4, 5, and 66 for added capacity.
- AT&T Certified: Certified for AT&T’s network, with 700 MHz low-band coverage on Bands 12 and 14, 850 MHz on Band 5, and mid-band capacity on Bands 2, 4, and 66.
- T-Mobile Certified: Certified for T-Mobile’s network, with Band 71 600 MHz low-band for rural reach, Band 12 700 MHz, and mid-band Bands 2, 4, and 66.
- Fifteen LTE Bands on Each Modem: Each CAT-7 modem covers B2, B4, B5, B7, B12, B13, B14, B25, B26, B41, B42, B43, B48, B66, and B71, so either modem can run on any of the three networks, independent of the other.
Enhanced with ISPTek’s Cellular SIM Card Data Plans:
- Public Static IP Addresses: Cellular SIMs usually share carrier-grade NAT addresses. A public static IP gives the BR2 a fixed, reachable address for IPsec VPNs, port forwarding, and remote access to equipment behind it.
- Data Pooling Across Devices: SIMs on the same ISPTek plan category share one data allowance, so matching SIMs across every BR2 in your sites or fleet draw from a single pool instead of separate per-SIM caps.
- Over 12 Custom Plans: Size each modem’s SIM to its role, such as a higher-capacity or unlimited plan on the primary modem and a low-cost standby plan on the second link or behind a wired ISP.
- No Activation or Cancellation Fees: Add SIMs when new kiosks, vehicles, or sites go live and remove them when projects wrap, with month-to-month billing and no setup costs or termination penalties.
- Zero Touch Advanced Security: Every ISPTek SIM in a BR2 gets network-level security from its first connection — on unattended kiosks, in vehicles, and during failover events.
Who Benefits?
- MSPs Standardizing Dual-Carrier Sites: One SKU covers wired-ISP failover, dual-carrier primary connectivity, and vehicle installs. InControl 2 manages every unit, and ISPTek becomes the single data plan billing partner for every SIM in the portfolio.
- ATMs, Kiosks & Vending: Peplink positions the BR2 for ATMs, point of sale, vending machines, and automated fare collection. PoE input and DIN rail mount holes simplify cabinet installs, and a second carrier keeps transactions flowing when one network falters.
- Multi-Location Retail & Restaurants: When the wired ISP drops, POS and card processing traffic shifts to two independent cellular links, and ISPTek SIMs on the same plan category pool backup data across stores.
- Financial Services & Healthcare: Bank branches and clinics can’t afford downtime on card processing, EMR access, or IPsec VPNs. The BR2 adds two independent cellular paths behind the wired circuit, under the same firewall and VPN policies.
- Fleet, Transit & Mobile Operations: Ignition sensing, 12–30V DC terminal block power, and integrated GPS let fleets track vehicles in InControl 2 while onboard devices share Wi-Fi 5 backed by two cellular links.
- Construction Sites & New Locations: Two carriers give a job-site trailer or pop-up office a dependable primary connection from day one; when the wired circuit arrives, plug it into the WAN port and both modems become automatic backup.
- Remote Industrial & Utility Sites: Fanless, -40°F to 149°F operation and a grounded, DIN-rail-mountable chassis suit unstaffed pump stations, telemetry sites, and monitoring cabinets managed remotely through InControl 2.
The Peplink MAX BR2 is built for sites and vehicles where one connection, or one carrier, isn’t enough. Its dedicated Gigabit WAN port lets it act as automatic cellular failover behind a wired ISP, and its two concurrent LTE modems run as a standalone dual-carrier primary connection where wired service isn’t installed, all in rugged hardware for vehicles, kiosks, and remote cabinets. Activated with ISPTek’s cellular SIM card data plans, each modem can carry a SIM sized to its role, with public static IPs, pooled-data plan options, and month-to-month billing across every BR2 in your portfolio.
