The Peplink 5G Adapter is a rugged, single-modem 5G cellular adapter that adds carrier-certified 5G to the router or firewall a site already runs. It connects through a single 2.5 GbE port that also accepts PoE+ power, and serves two roles: automatic backup for an existing wired ISP, with your router’s own multi-WAN failover doing the switching, or a standalone primary 5G connection for new locations, temporary sites, and vehicles. Inside, a Qualcomm X62-based modem is rated up to 3.4 Gbps theoretical on 5G Sub-6 with LTE Cat 19 fallback, backed by dual Nano-SIM slots and certification on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Pair it with an ISPTek cellular SIM card data plan and the network you already trust gains an always-ready 5G WAN.
What It Does & Key Features:
- Automatic 5G Failover for Your Existing Router: Plug the Adapter into a spare WAN port on your router or firewall. When the wired ISP drops, the router’s multi-WAN failover shifts traffic to 5G and back on recovery — and where wired service isn’t installed yet, the same unit runs as the primary connection.
- 5G Sub-6 in SA & NSA Modes: Covers 18 Sub-6 5G NR bands at theoretical maximums of 3.4 Gbps down and 550 Mbps up, with LTE Cat 19 fallback at up to 1.6 Gbps / 200 Mbps. Throughput to the router is capped by the 2.5 GbE port.
- IP Passthrough to Your Firewall: The Adapter ships in NAT mode with its own DHCP server. Current firmware supports IP Passthrough, passing the cellular WAN IP directly to the connected router to avoid double NAT.
- Dual Nano-SIM Slots with Automatic Failback: Two 4FF Nano-SIM slots support drag-and-drop SIM priority. One SIM is active at a time — the Adapter moves to the standby SIM if the preferred one can’t connect, then fails back when idle or after a set connection time.
- Single 2.5 GbE Port with PoE+ Input: One RJ45 port carries data and 802.3at PoE+ power, so a single cable lets you mount the Adapter where signal is strongest. The included 12V supply or a 10–30 VDC input covers sites without PoE.
- 4×4 MIMO with Four Cellular Antenna Ports: Four SMA cellular connectors plus one SMA GPS connector support up to 4×4 MIMO on the primary 5G and LTE bands. Antennas are included, and Peplink’s 40G antenna systems are optional upgrades for tough RF sites.
- Rugged, Vehicle-Ready Hardware: A rugged metal enclosure operates from -40°F to 149°F (-40°C to 65°C), with ignition sensing, GPIO, and built-in GPS for fleet tracking.
- Signal Visibility & Cloud Management: A 0–5 bar LED signal meter speeds placement, carrier and band selection are built in, and the included 1-year PrimeCare subscription adds InControl 2 cloud management and data usage reporting.
Certified on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile & All Major U.S. Carrier Networks:
The Peplink 5G Adapter is certified on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile — the three largest U.S. networks — and works with ISPTek’s cellular SIM card data plans on all three.
- Verizon Certified: Certified through Verizon’s Open Development program, supporting n77 C-Band 5G in both NSA and Standalone modes, plus n2, n5, and n66 5G and LTE Bands 13 and 66 — the core of Verizon’s nationwide coverage.
- AT&T Certified: Certified for AT&T’s network, with support for n77 mid-band and n5 850 MHz 5G plus LTE Bands 2, 12, 14, 17, 29, 30, and 66.
- T-Mobile Certified: Rated 3 out of 3 on T-Mobile’s IoT device certification, with 5G Standalone support on n41 2.5 GHz mid-band for capacity and n71 600 MHz low-band for rural reach.
- LTE Cat 19 Fallback: Twenty LTE bands — including B2, B4, B12, B13, B14, B66, and B71 — keep the Adapter online at up to 1.6 Gbps theoretical wherever 5G hasn’t reached, so the backup link never depends on 5G coverage.
Enhanced with ISPTek’s Cellular SIM Card Data Plans:
- Public Static IP Addresses: Standard cellular SIMs typically sit behind carrier-grade NAT. Add a public static IP and, with IP Passthrough enabled, the firewall gets a fixed, reachable address for site-to-site VPNs, remote management, and NVR access.
- Data Pooling Across Devices: Backup SIMs sit idle, then spike during an outage. On ISPTek’s pooled plans, Adapters on the same plan category share one allowance across sites, so one location’s outage draws on data the quiet sites never used.
- Over 12 Custom Plans: Size each SIM to the site’s role — low-cost standby plans for light-traffic failover, or higher-capacity and unlimited plans where the Adapter is the primary connection.
- No Activation or Cancellation Fees: Add SIMs when new sites go live and remove them when temporary projects wrap — month-to-month billing with no setup costs or termination penalties.
- Zero Touch Advanced Security: Network-level security protects every ISPTek SIM from the moment it connects, including during failover events when traffic leaves the wired circuit.
Who Benefits?
- MSPs Managing Mixed-Vendor Clients: Client sites run a mix of firewalls such as FortiGate, SonicWall, Meraki, and pfSense. Because the Adapter connects as a standard Ethernet WAN, MSPs can standardize one 5G failover modem and one ISPTek billing account across the portfolio.
- Enterprise IT & Branch Networks: Keep the firewall that already carries your policies, VLANs, and VPNs; the Adapter adds a 5G WAN beside the wired circuit for automatic failover without a hardware refresh. Add an ISPTek public static IP and branch VPNs have a fixed, reachable endpoint on the 5G path too.
- Multi-Location Retail & Restaurants: POS terminals, card processing, and online ordering stay up when the wired ISP drops, and pooled ISPTek plans across locations keep backup data costs in check. Inventory systems and guest WiFi ride the same failover path.
- Financial Services & Healthcare: Branches and clinics need WAN redundancy for EMR access, card processing, and secure branch VPNs. The Adapter joins the existing firewall as an additional WAN, so failover traffic still passes through the same firewall and its security policies.
- Construction Sites & New Locations: Run the Adapter as the primary connection at a job-site trailer or new branch while the wired circuit is on order, then move it to automatic backup once the wired ISP is live — same hardware, no redeployment.
- Fleet & Mobile Operations: Ignition sensing, 10–30 VDC input, and GPIO let fleets add certified 5G to a vehicle’s existing onboard router, with built-in GPS feeding InControl 2 tracking for every unit. On ISPTek’s pooled plans, vehicles on the same plan category share one data allowance.
- AV Integrators & IT Firms: Integrators supporting digital signage, kiosks, CCTV, and client networks can standardize one compact 5G modem that plugs into whatever router each client already runs. ISPTek becomes the single data plan billing partner for every Adapter in the portfolio.
The Peplink 5G Adapter is built for sites where the router already works and shouldn’t change. It gives that router an automatic 5G failover path behind the wired ISP, or runs as a standalone primary connection where wired service isn’t installed yet, with three-carrier certification and rugged hardware for closets, cabinets, and vehicles. Activated with ISPTek’s cellular SIM card data plans, every Adapter in your portfolio can add a public static IP, draw on pooled-data plan options, and run on a month-to-month plan matched to each site’s role: primary, backup, or both.
