The Peplink MAX BR2 Pro 5G is a rugged dual-modem 5G router for vehicles, mobile command units, and sites that can’t depend on one carrier. Its two 5G modems each run their own active SIM, so one router can stay on two networks at once. Two Ethernet WAN ports, including 2.5 Gbps WAN, bring a wired ISP into the mix, giving the BR2 Pro two roles: a standalone dual-carrier primary connection, and automatic failover behind an existing fiber or cable circuit. Four Nano-SIM slots, Wi-Fi 6, ignition sensing, and Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile certification round it out, while ISPTek’s cellular SIM card data plans give each vehicle or site two carrier-diverse paths.

What It Does & Key Features:

  • Automatic Wired-to-5G Failover: Connect a fiber, cable, or DSL modem to either Ethernet WAN port and rank it above both 5G modems in WAN priority. If the circuit fails its health checks, traffic moves to cellular and returns once it recovers; where wired service isn’t installed yet, the two modems carry all traffic as the primary connection.
  • Two Concurrent 5G Modems: Each modem supports Sub-6 5G NSA and SA with its own SIM, so the two can sit on different carriers and one carrier’s outage doesn’t have to take the router offline. Peplink rates each 5GK modem up to 4.1 Gbps / 900 Mbps in theory, and router throughput at 1 Gbps.
  • Two Current Versions, 5GK & 5GN: The MAX-BR2-PRO-5GK-T-PRM uses two Telit FN990A40 modules (Snapdragon X65) with LTE Cat 20. The MAX-BR2-PRO-5GN-T-PRM uses two Quectel RM520N-GL modules (Snapdragon X62), rated to a theoretical 3.4 Gbps on 5G with Cat 19/20-class LTE, and adds band n70. Both share one chassis, ports, and carrier certifications; the 5GK also replaces the discontinued MAX-BR2-PRO-5GH-T-PRM.
  • Four Nano-SIM Slots, Two per Modem: Each modem gets an A/B pair of 4FF Nano-SIM positions with one SIM live at a time. Peplink calls them redundant SIM slots: each modem’s second SIM waits in reserve.
  • 4×4 MIMO on Each Modem: Eight SMA cellular connectors, four per modem, support 4×4 MIMO downlink. All 11 antennas (8 cellular, 2 Wi-Fi, 1 GPS) ship in the box.
  • Wi-Fi 6 & Six Ethernet Ports: Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 with 2×2 MU-MIMO serves as an access point, a Wi-Fi WAN, or both. Four Gigabit LAN ports join the two WAN ports, and Peplink recommends it for up to 150 users.
  • Vehicle Power, PoE Input & Rugged Certifications: A Molex Micro-Fit port takes 10–30V DC with ignition sensing and GPIO, and the Gigabit WAN/LAN port accepts 802.3at PoE input (25W). E-Mark, EN 50155, EN 61373, and MIL-STD-810H Method 514.8 certifications and a -40°F to 149°F (-40°C to 65°C) range suit vehicles and equipment cabinets.
  • SpeedFusion, RS-232 Serial & Edge Computing: First-year PrimeCare on -PRM models enables InControl 2 cloud management and GPS fleet tracking, plus SpeedFusion Hot Failover, WAN Smoothing, and Bandwidth Bonding to a Peplink peer or FusionHub; renew PrimeCare to keep them. An RS-232 serial port handles out-of-band management, and Docker runs on 8GB of storage.

Certified on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile & All Major U.S. Carrier Networks:

Both current Peplink MAX BR2 Pro 5G versions hold certifications from Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile and accept ISPTek SIMs on any of the three. With a modem behind each SIM bay, two of those networks can run side by side.

  • Verizon Certified: Approved through Verizon’s Open Development program, including C-Band (n77) 5G; the radios also cover Bands 13 and 66 on LTE and n2, n5, and n66 on 5G.
  • AT&T Certified: Certified on AT&T, with radio support for n5 850 MHz and n77 5G, plus LTE Band 14 and Bands 2, 12, 17, 29, 30, and 66. Peplink also lists FirstNet, a device approval for agencies enrolled in that program.
  • T-Mobile Certified: Both versions hold a 3-out-of-3 T-Mobile certification rating, and each modem pairs n41 2.5 GHz 5G with 600 MHz n71 and LTE Band 71 for reach beyond metro areas.
  • 31 LTE Bands for Fallback: Each modem falls back to LTE (Cat 20 on the 5GK) across 31 bands, from B12, B13, B14, and B71 low-band to B2, B4, B66, and B48 CBRS, so either path keeps working where 5G is thin.

Enhanced with ISPTek’s Cellular SIM Card Data Plans:

  • Public Static IP Addresses: Without one, a cellular WAN sits behind carrier-grade NAT and can’t accept inbound connections. A public static IP on either modem gives headquarters a fixed address for VPNs, forwarded ports, and serial-attached gear.
  • Data Pooling Across Devices: When SIMs share an ISPTek plan category, they draw from one allowance across every BR2 Pro in the fleet, so a busy route or a branch on failover is covered by data other units didn’t use.
  • Over 12 Custom Plans: A bus running passenger Wi-Fi and a branch’s standby link need very different allowances, so each modem’s SIM can take its own plan, from unlimited to a light standby tier.
  • No Activation or Cancellation Fees: Activate SIMs as vehicles enter service or temporary sites open, and cancel them when vehicles retire or projects end, with month-to-month service and no fees either way.
  • Zero Touch Advanced Security: Both modems’ ISPTek SIMs get network-level protection from the first session, whether the router sits at a depot, moves between cell sites, or carries a branch through a wired outage.

Who Benefits?

  • Transit, Rail & Fleet Operators: EN 50155, EN 61373, E-Mark, and ignition sensing fit buses, trains, and service fleets, where two carriers keep passenger Wi-Fi, dispatch, and onboard video online as one network fades. Peplink also names the BR2 Pro as a successor to the retired Peplink MBX Mini.
  • Public Safety & Emergency Response: Incident command vehicles and response units get two independent cellular paths, GPS tracking in InControl 2 with PrimeCare, and serial out-of-band access to connected gear.
  • MSPs Building Carrier-Diverse Failover: Put a client’s primary and backup links on different carriers in one router, managed in InControl 2 under PrimeCare. Lighter sites can use the single-modem Peplink MAX BR1 Pro 5G or the lower-cost, dual-LTE Peplink MAX BR2, with ISPTek billing every SIM.
  • Financial Services, Healthcare & Branches: Behind the wired circuit, two more paths on two carriers keep card processing, EMR access, and VPNs up through an ISP or carrier outage, and PoE input lets a PoE+ switch power it over one cable.
  • Construction Sites & Temporary Offices: Site trailers can open on dual-carrier 5G the week they’re placed, then move both modems to automatic backup once permanent fiber or cable reaches a WAN port.
  • Utilities & Remote Industrial Sites: In a cabinet or enclosure, it brings -40°F to 149°F operation, RS-232 serial access to controllers, and Docker edge applications to pump stations, wellheads, and telemetry sites.

For fleets and sites that must stay up when a carrier or wired circuit fails, the Peplink MAX BR2 Pro 5G puts two independent 5G paths in one router. It runs as a standalone dual-carrier primary connection or stands behind the wired ISP as automatic failover. Each modem then runs an ISPTek cellular SIM card data plan matched to its workload, with public static IP options, pooled data within a plan category, and no activation or cancellation fees.
