The Peplink MAX BR1 Mini Core is a compact, security-focused CAT-4 LTE router built for telemetry and for networks that need a highly secure cellular connection. Peplink removed the Wi-Fi and GPS components entirely to cut down potential vulnerabilities, leaving a hardened router with one LTE modem, dual Nano-SIM slots, three Gigabit Ethernet ports, and GPIO in a rugged metal enclosure. It serves two roles: a standalone primary LTE connection for equipment cabinets, vehicles, and remote sites, or automatic cellular backup for an existing wired ISP plugged into its WAN port. With certification on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile, it pairs with ISPTek’s cellular SIM card data plans to keep critical systems online without adding a Wi-Fi radio.

What It Does & Key Features:

  • Automatic LTE Failover Behind a Wired ISP: With PrimeCare active (first year included on -PRM units) or Peplink’s perpetual feature pack license, port 3 runs as a dedicated Ethernet WAN. Plug in the wired ISP and the LTE modem stands by, taking over automatically when the wired line drops — or run the Core on LTE as a standalone primary connection.
  • Security-First Design with No Wi-Fi or GPS: There is no Wi-Fi access point, no SSID to secure, and no GPS radio. Peplink positions the Core for security-sensitive networks and lists government, public safety, military, and finance as its target verticals.
  • CAT-4 LTE with 2×2 MIMO: An embedded CAT-4 modem is rated at theoretical maximums of 150 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up across eight LTE bands. Two SMA connectors (Main and Diversity/Aux) support 2×2 MIMO downlink, two LTE antennas are included, and external antennas can be fitted for weak-signal sites.
  • Dual Nano-SIM Slots with Automatic SIM Switching: Two 4FF Nano-SIM slots share the single modem, with one SIM active at a time. The firmware switches to the standby SIM based on network reliability or data usage, and can return to the preferred SIM after a set timeout.
  • Three Gigabit Ethernet Ports: Two Gigabit LAN ports plus one Gigabit WAN/LAN port connect RTUs, controllers, cameras, and switches. Peplink rates router throughput at 300 Mbps and recommends it for 1–60 users, with up to 8 VLANs to keep device traffic segmented.
  • Built-In GPIO for Telemetry: Peplink calls the Core “Fully Optimized for Telemetry.” The 4-pin Micro-Fit power port includes GPIO, so sensors, alarms, and telemetry devices can be wired straight into the router.
  • Rugged Metal Build for Vehicles & Cabinets: The compact indoor metal enclosure runs from -40°F to 149°F (-40°C to 65°C) on 10–30V DC power. Peplink lists it as suitable for mobile use, with an industrial Micro-Fit power connector for secure vehicle installs, mounting flanges, and an optional DIN rail kit.
  • VPN, Firewall & Remote Management: Supports IPsec, OpenVPN, and GRE site-to-site tunnels, a stateful firewall with DoS prevention, QoS, IP Passthrough, Drop-In Mode, and SNMP v1/v2c/v3. InControl 2 cloud management is available while PrimeCare is active.

Certified on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile & All Major U.S. Carrier Networks:

The Peplink MAX BR1 Mini Core is certified on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile — the three largest U.S. networks — and works with ISPTek’s cellular SIM card data plans on all three.

  • Verizon Certified: Certified through Verizon’s Open Development program, with LTE Band 13 (700 MHz) for Verizon’s wide-area coverage and Band 66 (AWS) for added capacity, plus Bands 2, 4, and 5.
  • AT&T Certified: Certified for AT&T’s network, with LTE Bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 14, and 66 covering core low-band and mid-band spectrum in AT&T’s nationwide LTE network.
  • T-Mobile Certified: Certified for T-Mobile’s network, with Band 71 600 MHz and Band 12 700 MHz low-band for rural and in-building reach, plus Bands 2, 4, and 66 for capacity.
  • Eight LTE Bands on One CAT-4 Modem: B2, B4, B5, B12, B13, B14, B66, and B71 cover the core LTE spectrum all three networks rely on, at up to 150 Mbps theoretical. Peplink also offers a CAT-7 version with additional bands and up to 300 Mbps theoretical.

Enhanced with ISPTek’s Cellular SIM Card Data Plans:

  • Public Static IP Addresses: Standard cellular SIMs typically sit behind carrier-grade NAT. Add a public static IP and the Core gets a fixed, reachable address for site-to-site VPNs, remote management, and inbound access to telemetry and SCADA equipment.
  • Data Pooling Across Devices: Telemetry links use little data, and backup links spike during an outage. On ISPTek’s pooled plans, Core routers on the same plan category share one allowance, so a busy site draws on data the quiet sites never used.
  • Over 12 Custom Plans: Size each SIM to the job — low-cost plans for telemetry and standby failover, or higher-capacity and unlimited plans where the Core is the primary connection.
  • No Activation or Cancellation Fees: Add SIMs as new cabinets, vehicles, and branches go live and remove them when projects end — month-to-month billing with no setup costs or termination penalties.
  • Zero Touch Advanced Security: Network-level security protects every ISPTek SIM from the moment it connects, adding a network-side layer to the Core’s no-Wi-Fi, no-GPS hardware design and its own firewall.

Who Benefits?

  • Government, Military & Defense: Agencies and contractors whose security policies restrict Wi-Fi radios can deploy cellular connectivity with no access point to secure, using IPsec or OpenVPN tunnels back to headquarters.
  • Public Safety & Emergency Services: Command vehicles, mobile units, and dispatch sites get a rugged LTE router with a 10–30V DC Micro-Fit power input, dual Nano-SIM slots for cellular redundancy, and mounting flanges for vehicle installs.
  • Banks, Credit Unions & Financial Services: Branches, ATMs, and card processing need WAN redundancy for compliance. The Core adds automatic LTE backup behind the wired ISP without adding another Wi-Fi network to secure.
  • Utilities, Energy & Industrial Telemetry: SCADA, RTUs, meters, and remote monitoring panels connect over Ethernet or GPIO from inside equipment cabinets, with -40°F to 149°F operation and an ISPTek static IP for polling.
  • Fleet & Mobile Operations: Utility trucks and service vehicles that already run separate telematics can add certified LTE without another GPS or Wi-Fi radio on board, and vehicles on the same ISPTek plan category share one data allowance.
  • Kiosks, POS & Unattended Equipment: Payment kiosks, digital signage, and building controls stay online through a compact router with no Wi-Fi, three Gigabit ports, and automatic SIM switching.
  • MSPs Serving Security-Sensitive Clients: MSPs supporting government, finance, and industrial clients can standardize one hardened LTE router across the portfolio, with ISPTek as the single data plan billing partner for every SIM.

The Peplink MAX BR1 Mini Core is built for networks where a Wi-Fi radio is a liability, not a feature. It runs as a standalone primary LTE connection for cabinets, vehicles, and remote sites, or as automatic failover behind a wired ISP on its WAN port, with dual Nano-SIM slots, GPIO, and certification on all three major U.S. networks. Activated with ISPTek’s cellular SIM card data plans, every Core in your deployment can add a public static IP, draw on pooled-data plan options, and run on a month-to-month plan matched to its role: primary, backup, or telemetry.
